A Blogging Dry Spell

I was looking around here a couple of days ago and realized that my last post was 5 months ago. Way to long.

There are several reasons for this dry spell.

The biggest reason is that my wife and I are cutting every expense that we can in an effort to get out of debt, and the home internet didn’t make the cut. Bye bye Comcast. Since I paint houses for a living, I’m not in front of a computer at work and my only internet access is at Starbucks or some other coffee shop, the library, friend’s houses, or our church.

This expense cutting also carried over to my data package on my AT&T Blackberry. While this hasn’t had a direct effect on my blogging, it has had a greater negative effect on my life than canceling the home internet, and will be remedied soon. I believe that I have found a decent inexpensive solution. There will be a blog post about this soon.

Another reason is that I have had a hard time finding focus, and a reason to blog. I liked the idea, but lacked the time, and I kinda feel like I don’t have much to add to the noise.

This, I believe, is changing. I have become excited about some things in the last year or so, and I hope to be able to write a series about the authority of scripture in a Christian’s life. I have also been thinking about some other topics.

I have seen some great benefits to dropping the home internet and cable in terms of productivity and personal edification. I have actually read more, or at least read with more focus. This too will be an upcoming post.

Again, this dry spell just might be coming to an end, and I hope to be able to write about some things that are important to me, and hopefully will be important to others.
